Virus Slams 6 Challenger Tennis Events in Canada

Six Challenger tennis competitions booked for Canada this year have been dropped on account of the pandemic.

Tennis Canada said Friday the occasions are: the men’s Winnipeg (Manitoba) National Bank Challenger; the ladies’ Challenger occasion in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; the National Bank Challenger in Granby, Quebec; and the Odlum Brown VanOpen in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The Calgary (Alberta) National Bank Challenger and the ladies Challenger occasion in Fredericton, New Brunswick, won’t occur in 2021 after their October deferment.

Up until this point, Tennis Canada has deferred or dropped 14 Challenger occasions, which are a level underneath occasions on the ATP and WTA visits, since the beginning of 2020 in light of COVID-19.

Tennis Canada said there are still intends to hold Challenger occasions in Saguenay, Quebec, (Oct. 18-24) and Toronto (Oct. 25-31).

The Drummondville (Quebec) National Bank Challenger, initially planned for March 2021, may be played in the not so distant future.…
